Insurance

Your provincial health plan or credit card insurance may only cover part of any medical or hospital expenses incurred outside of Canada.  Should you get injured or sick and require medical attention, which may result in substantial upfront or out of pocket costs. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance, to not only protect your investment, but give you peace of mind.

Passport

Plan ahead.  As soon as you begin the planning stage of your vacation, it is recommended you check the validity of your passport.  The processing time for a passport may take longer than expected.  In addition, a valid passport is required whenever you travel outside of Canada.  Certain countries may require your passport be valid up to six (6) months after your return date.

Visa

A visa is an official document, usually stamped or glued inside a passport, giving permission from a foreign authority for entry into a country.  Visas are issued by foreign government offices in Canada.  Contact your destination’s embassy or consulate in Canada well before you plan to leave to find out if you need a visa for entry or stay for a longer period of time.

Schedule Changes

We can not be held responsible for schedule changes imposed by the airlines, but we will do our best to inform clients who may be affected during normal business hours and if necessary issue new documents.  After hours, Travelers should contact the airline directly.

All travelers are responsible for checking their flight schedules with the airlines at least 24 hours before departure, for both the before trip and return trip.

Entry / Exit Requirements

When you are travelling outside of Canada, it is recommended you check the Government of Canada Travel Advisory for the destination in which you plan to travel to.  This will help you make informed travel decisions and travel safely.

Travel Safely

When travelling outside Canada, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to travel safely.  Be aware of pick pocketers and keep credit cards, debit cards, and cash, in a money belt or back pack that you can carry on your front.  Be discreet.  Never leave bags unattended.

Foreign Customs

It is important when travelling to foreign countries to be aware of the lifestyles and cultures, of the countries you are visiting.  Be respectful of laws, religions, culture and social environment, dress appropriately.  Photographs may be prohibited in certain areas, ask permission if you are uncertain.   Follow local laws to avoid legal issues.  Stay informed of local news and events.

Money Matters

Carry a mix of payment methods, including local currency, credit cards, small amount of cash.  Be aware of exchange rates and local ATM fees.  Before you go, check the banking information.  Bartering is typically accepted in markets, street vendors.  It is recommended to research local bartering customs before you go.  Carry small denominations of local currency for bartering.
